Bike, Hike and
Get Your Gold!!!! - $200/pp Start off your best day in Alaska by getting picked up by Coastal Trail Rentals at your hotel or meeting us at the Millennium Alaskan Hotel on Spenard Road. By 9 am you'll be on your way down to Indian, Alaska where we will leave the vehicle behind and mount our trusty steeds, in this case, our exclusive electric-assist bicycles. We will then navigate our way alongside one of Alaska’s most beautiful stretches of ocean view on a paved trail that has ample opportunities for numerous wildlife sightings*, mountain and glacier views and even a chance to catch the second largest Bore Tide in the world!! Throughout this 18 mile journey into the small ski-resort town of Girdwood you will have ample opportunity to get your legs, body and camera warmed up for a 4 mile hike along the Winner Creek Trail. (This otherwise lengthy and hilly ride could be the end of the day for most without the powerful, yet silent, electric-assist our bicycles come equipped with) This trail is basically level and travels through some thick forest so it is fun for all ages. There is also a hand-tram and a foot bridge over 2 gorges at the mine end of the hike. These are definitely highlights of the hike and the hand tram is something you'll NEVER forget. (Video down to the left) Once we have arrived at the Mine end of the trail we will then be at the Crow Creek....Mine. They will show you how to pan and provide you with all of the equipment and then you can head down to the creek to try your luck! Everyone is guaranteed a few pieces in their practice bag, and what you find at the creek is yours to keep! Following this grand adventure, we will return to Anchorage in our shuttle and return you to your hotel or destination within Anchorage.** *Wildlife along this trip includes: Moose, Black Bear, Eagles, Dall Sheep, Beluga Whales and various smaller creatures and birds. Tentative schedule 9:00a-9:30a travel to Indian 9:45a-12:00p Bike ride to Tram Base 12:00p-12:45p Box lunch @ Tram Base – Alyeska 12:45p-2:15p Winner Creek Hike 2:15p-5:00p Gold Panning @ Mine 5:00p-6:00p Return to Anchorage** **Optional -For those looking to continue the fun there is usually active nightlife in Girdwood, including live local music and you can have a designated driver!! This will be an additional $35/hour and must be arranged prior to departure. *** This day trip can be modified to suit your particular needs or wants to include other local activities. Please inquire for more information. This tour is new for the 2009 season and is specially priced @ $200/person
